Strong contributor in product creation from concept through to commercialization and production leading on time delivery and development adhering to critical dates, product specifications, sustainability, performance, and profitability goals in support of the team.
Supports in improving or developing new products, components, equipment, systems, technologies, or processes. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, product development, designers, product testing to optimize designs, product performance for manufacturability.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Senior Product Engineer keeps abreast of market trends, team goals, new technologies and consumer needs throughout the development process and engages appropriately to ensure projects are completed within corporate guidelines and goals for all facets of product creation.
The Senior Engineer has competence in critical thinking & analytical skills, in-depth knowledge of patterns, tooling, and chemical aspects of footwear. Informed experience of both product creation and manufacturing. Ability to understand & implement technical documentation, drawings, and best practices. Understanding how engineering decisions affect product cost and business profitability. Contract or offshore manufacturing experience. Ability to take consumer insights and apply to product creation. Team oriented and solution-oriented mindset.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
As our Senior Product Engineer, you’re responsible for key Accountabilities:
- Integrate HQ standards, process and protocol with the team.
- Focus on creating high quality, crafted,& comfortable product.
- Set and follow technical strategic direction for category teams.
- Technical competence in pattern, tooling readiness, lasts, footwear compounds.
- Establish and drive category and engineering best practices
- Trouble-shoot issues with product development, production and/or as raised by wear testing, product integrity, etc.
- Understanding of pattern grading and review of full size run trials.
- Participate in sourcing discussions including providing technical assessments of factories
- Leading high-profile cross category initiatives, as needed.
- Lead and drive costing and profitability assessments with the team.
- Leverage category, functional, and technical knowledge to influence the product direction in developing and manufacturing footwear.
- Identify and resolve manufacturing and quality issues
- Support and advice on category sourcing profiles and strategies
- Provide technical training and consultation to the greater team.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Reporting to the Director of Product Engineering at Converse HQ, you will be part of a larger engineering functional team providing tools, methods, process, systems and support.
The Senior Product Engineer will collaborate with Greater China Product Development, Design, Product Management, Fit Analyst, Materials and Manufacturing effectively executing new product creation. Ability to seek and consult with other functional experts across Nike Inc, CTS, factory partners and external vendors.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree engineering or technical degree.
- Two years of additional product creation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 7+ years technical experience in the sports FTW industry, which includes the FTW development process from inception through production including pattern making, grading, construction, materials, costing, manufacturing and quality.
- Strong problem solving, organization and communication skills.

- Experience interpreting product intent and offering alternative solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with competence in English.
- Experience working with factory vendors to ensure and improve manufacturability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Experience using Adobe Illustrator, CAD software and 3D software highly desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office programs.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (domestic and international).
